Is transitional ITC to be declared in GSTR-3B?
Is transitional ITC or closing ITC balance of June to be declared in GSTR-3B?
The major question which dealers are facing in GST regime is whether the transitional ITC or the closing ITC balance of June is to be disclosed in GSTR-3B or not?
Answer- In many articles previously at TaxGrid, we have made this fact very clear that transitional ITC cannot be availed in GSTR-3B as the return is for the month of July and transactions in respect of the said month only are to be disclosed and thus ITC available for the month of July can only be availed. Still the question arises again and again the reason is that taxpayers are worried because their working capital outflow gets increased if they are not able to avail the transitional ITC for purpose of discharging outward liability of July. As of position now, transitional ITC or closing ITC balance of June cannot be claimed in GSTR-3B to be filed for the month of July, although on twitter feeds it has been made clear by governments that they are working on it and modalities will be made available very soon for claiming transitional credit. So, for now, transitional ITC cannot be claimed but some taxpayers have claimed such amount by disclosing it in Table 4 - Eligible ITC , (A)-(5) - "All other ITC" which is wrong at current stage.
